BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Jackson State’s Jacobian Morgan and Leilani Armenta along with Grambling State’s Sundiata Anderson and Alabama State’s Amon Scarbrough its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their impressive performances during games played this past weekend.
Offense
Morgan finished the game with 373 yards passing, connecting on 26 of his 36 pass attempts to go along with five passing touchdowns. He connected with a total of eight different receivers. He also contributed 21 yards rushing during JSU’s road win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Defense
Anderson was a significant force for the Grambling State defense during the Tigers’ 28-14 win over Bethune-Cookman. He led GSU with 12 total tackles, 3.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
Specialist
Armenta became the first woman in HBCU history to score in a game. She converted all three of her PAT attempts during the Tigers road win at UAPB.
Newcomer
Scarborough recorded six tackles with one interception, a fumble recovery, and two passes defended. His interception ended a drive in ASU territory in the third quarter and his fumble recovery stopped a drive in the fourth quarter.
